TheΒ coconut treeΒ (Cocosnucifera) is a member of theΒ palm treeΒ family. CoconutΒ is a seed because it is the reproductive part of the tree,Β coconut is a fruitΒ because it is a fibrous one-seeded drupe andΒ coconutΒ is a nut because a loose definition of a nut is nothing but a one-seeded ‘fruit.
So if categorized in all the section of plant family how can it be harmful for health? It is one of the most useful trees in the world, and is often referred to as the “tree of life”.

Coconuts are distinct from other fruits because theirΒ endospermΒ contains a large quantity of clear liquid, calledΒ coconut waterΒ orΒ coconut juice

Coconut water forms naturally in the fruit and contains 94% water and very little fat. Since it is natural occurring we protect our body from the exposures of harmful pesticides and preservatives.
Coconut water is found in young coconuts and a good source of fibre, Nevertheless, with its 3 grams of fibre and a digestible carbs it helps in maintaining gut health.

Coconut water may be great for controlling blood pressure and Heart diseases: It is a good source of vitamin C and several important minerals like potassium and magnesium. Coconut water may help lower blood pressure and potentially decrease the risk of blood clots forming in your arteries.

Coconut water contains antioxidants: Free radicals are unstable molecules produced in your cells during metabolism. Their production increases in response to stress or injury. Coconut water contains antioxidants that protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals. When there are too many free radicals, your body enters a state of oxidative stress, which can damage your cells and increase disease risk
Coconut water can be consumed directly from green coconuts: It is always fresh. It is organic. It is biodegradable. People are ready to spend money in sugar coated drinks but feels they pocket pinching for fresh coconut water.

Coconut water is a sport Drink: It is rich in minerals so helped in maintaining the electrolyte balance in our body. Helps in avoiding muscular cramps.

Coconut cultivation provides livelihood top millions of family residing majorly in costal belt of our nation. India ranks third in area and production of coconut in the world. The four southern states viz . Kerala,Β Tamil Nadu,Β KarnatakaΒ andΒ Andhra PradeshΒ are the major coconut producing states in India accounting for more than 90 per cent of area and production.

If we consume them we contributing in the economy of our nation.

Avoid brands with added sugar, sweeteners or flavours.
If you start sipping away at this tropical drink, you will be avoiding products withΒ added sugar. So water from Kalpavriksha’ – the ‘tree of heaven’ as each and every part of the palm is useful to mankind in one way or other should be consumed without any hesitation. Be the part of this swadeshi movement.

  1. Each & every part of coconut ( frm seed to outer cover) is useful & has it’s own importance . I love drinking it, eating it, & also using cocopeat fr my plants. Truly said, it’s a tree of heaven. 😍

    It’s a better choice than sugar loaded drinks n u have rightly said that it’ll the help our own country men instead of filling pockets of big multi nationals.

  15. Thanks for the very detailed information. I used to have severe cramps in my calf muscles. And I have noticed regular intake of a glass of coconut water every morning helped me a lot.
    Is it okay to break the tender coconut n keep in the fridge for a couple of hours or do we have to consume immediately?
